What does it do.for.the boat
Makes it slick and strong
That's called rolling and tipping not back brushing also gelcote is much more durable since epoxy is not UV stable... that will not last outside for long
Gelcoat is polyester resin based and 1/2 the strength of good epoxy. It also will not stick to epoxy resin due to epoxy being harder than concrete.
We use dye along with graphite, it’s on the bottom of the boat, and Alaska isn’t south Florida so it won’t UV damage because it’s bottom side . Graphite is bombproof and 40 yr old Tolmans sitting in the Homer harbor are doing fine with proper maintenance

How do you think an 18ft Standard would do for bigger inland rivers and medium to large size lakes? On the forum they always just say build a jumbo but time money and cost for a bigger motor and a love of bass fishing tell me that's not the right boat.
I don’t know. I don’t know what rivers and lakes you are running. If you’re on the Columbia, absolutely not. if you’re down south in little bass lakes sure, why not
Learned something there! Way easier (well, like Bill Moody said, you made it look easier) than fancy ply popsicle sticks I sanded down.
Amazon sells 3-5 pack of these cheap spatulas for $10-$15. After application glass immediately for chemical bonding, and fare the same day for one sand and decent finish

In the early 2000s Suzuki built these 140’s for Johnson
